Сказали же, что Mila в отпуске.
Что касается вопроса - "подобрать" = "pick out". Для уточнения можно добавить "a tune" (мелодию) или "chords", "harmony" (гармонию, то есть аккорды). Короче, "pick out а [the] tune", "pick out [the] chords" и "pick out [the] harmony". Определённый артикль поставлен в квадратные скобки как возможный вариант, когда речь идёт о конкретном музыкальном произведении.

Теперь о выложенном здесь примере. Откуда такие странные аккорды в припеве?

Вступление тоже не внушаить...

Dm Am B C (откуда там вдруг взялся F - непонятно). При этом бас играет одну и ту же конфигурацию, невзирая на аккорды. Прием называется "органный пункт" (термин введен со времен Баха, если не раньше. Прием обусловлен тем, что в старинные времена органы обладали ограниченным количеством басовых педалей).

А зачем? Зачем занимать чужие места, если сам дуб? Одной только фразы "anybody now" вместо "does anybody know" достаточно, чтобы послать тебя подальше. Даже если считать это разговорным языком без употребления "does", но с вопросительной интонацией, то всё равно должно быть "anybody knows". Чтобы было виднее - KnowS.

Попробую ( хоть это - верх непрофа) "перевести"...на "кавказо-русский".

Никто ничего не смешивал. Обычная практика повествования в английском языке. Аналогично и в русском - можно рассказывать в настоящем времени, подразумевая прошедшее. "Моррис приходит от врача и говорит жене, будто доктор ему сказал, что ему остается жить 24 часа". Вот по-русски - где Вы тут видите прошедшее или будущее время? Так на русском рассказывают часто, на английском тоже - вот в этом языки совпадают. Да, есть один момент - "доктор ему сказал". В английском это согласование времён - после Present Simple (оно же Present Indefinite) идёт Present Perfect.
И на русском, и на английском можно всё то же самое поставить в прошедшее время и воткнуть будущее про остаток жизни. Но то, что написала Мила, грамматически предельно правильно и чётко.

Ваше "обычно (как всегда) отворачивается от врача" - это всего лишь примитивное понимание временных конструкций - этому учат на самом начальном этапе, чтобы обучаемому было легче усвоить основные принципы. Но язык на самом деле гораздо более многогранный и в повествованиях чаще всего говорят или пишут именно так, как написано у Милы.

P.S. - Кстати, Моррис не отворачивается от врача, а возвращается от него. Это лишний раз говорит о том, что Вам рано утверждать о том, потерян ли смысл рассказа - пока только спрашивать.

P.P.S. - Ещё важный момент - Мила не переписывала эту историю по памяти, а скопировала с одного из многочисленных англоязычных сайтов, на которых эта история есть. Но ни англичане, ни американцы, ни автралийцы не возмущаются. Да и что возмущаться, если сами постоянно пользуются этим приёмом?

Считаю, что я вполне понятно и объективно высказался по поводу языка. Когда Вы прочтёте пару десятков книг на английском (только вдумчиво, обращая внимание на грамматику и стиль), вы начнёте рассказывать на нормальном английском языке, как это сделала Мила в рассказе про Морриса. Пока Ваш вариант безобразен.

Да, книги читаю. Сечас читаю Susan Isaacs "Close Relations".
Действительно, есть ( Formal) язык....назвал-бы его..." только в книгах", но стараются..как-то " к разговорному" приблизить. Нравится стилистика английских авторов. ИМХО Набоков - взял эту "обрывчивость".

Я заметил. Только это не ошибка, а опечатка, поэтому не было смысла поправлять.
А что касается Вашего высказывания "только в книгах" - ничего подобного, не только. Такой стиль характерен для коротких рассказов, анекдотов и т.д. Как я уже писал, точно так же, как и в русском языке.
"Идёт Штирлиц по лесу и натыкается на сук. "Шли бы вы лучше домой, девушки" - говорит он сукам" - повествование ведётся с использованием конструкций настоящего времени, хотя можно рассказать и в прошедшем - смысл от этого не поменяется.

Just a piece of advice. Try to listen English more. Written English with all of its nuances is almost useless for pilots. Meanwhile ability to recognize spoken language is a crucial skill.

The guy has heavy German accent. The only way to make him understand is to shout-out "we're SINKEN!")...I think..)

"th"-sounds are not the major problems with spoken English. I guess "[i]" and "[i:]" make people hard to understand. They are a bit different sounds but a lot of people just don't care.

Another TRAGIC accident, this time here in the UK...
"Miss Cruse, 40, died instantly after her single-seat Zivko Edge 540 nosedived into the ground as motoring enthusiasts gathered for an event being staged by the 750 Motor Club.

A source at the Wisconsin-based International Aerobatic Club confirmed they were compiling a tribute to Miss Cruse.

She was one of the few women qualified to race at the famous Reno Air Races.

The World Aerobatic Championships, being staged over 13 days, is Silverstone's first-ever air show.

Scheduled to run from August 17 to August 29, it has attracted around 60 pilots from 19 countries, all competing for the title of world champion. The championships have been staged every two years since their inception in 1960.

Saturday was designated as a training day and there were no spectators at the air show, although eyewitnesses who were attending driving experience days.

One eyewitness said: "She flew straight up in the air and then straight back down again. But she dropped straight into the ground.

"There was no fire and no smoke, just a terrible wreckage. An ambulance arrived very quickly but nobody took the pilot away.

"There was no way anyone was getting out of the wreckage."

This is a long story... I have been studying English since I was 6 years old :-))) and still keep on learning every day!!!
This is because I can't do and don't want to do anything else :-)))
Definitely, to be able to communicate you need to come and stay for a while in the country.to merge with the culture and mentality of British people.

From my experience I must admit that when I talk to British people it sounds like, , no it is just differs from American English. American English I understand perfectly. On other hand British people have some kind of accent, sometimes I even can't realize what they say.

I just wonder why have you chosen this forum, it is actually aviation forum. Are you involved somehow in Aviation industry?

If you read my profile you will perhaps find the answer to your "burning" question.
To be short, I've worked in aviation for quite a long time to be here, I believe: translating and then later teaching future pilots.
And nowdays I do travel a lot by air :-)))love it!

Ya. I understood it. Anyway I will understand it better. In October I start my studies at Imperial College.

For my part, I prefer American English thanks to Hollywood movies or probably it's just a bad habit.

They do have. And I saw several times - no mysteries here.

Well...
Pilots typically aren't allowed to have beards. It's not a style issue. A beard would stop the oxygen mask from fitting tightly enough if the ccabin pressure dropped suddenly.
Any comments?

Му friend, a pilot of Tu-154, had a beard for about a year. He luckily had no decompression, though...
