If you don't mind I'd like not to reveal my identity "on the open air". But it's not a secret, I can specify it by e-mail if it's necessary.

Wouldn't it be better to say as follows:
If you don't mind I'd like not to reveal my identity "on air"
as "open air" means outside?

Very likely. Cause by "open air" I meant "broadcast for any indefinite person". Just didn't know how to say it exactly.

Hi MSL
I wonder if you could possibly tell me what hotels in Moscow are reasonbly good for money and service...It's rather difficult to work out from the Internet...They all look the same.I mean you probably know better> as I understand you are from the area.
I used to stay in Izmailovo as this is quite good location and connection with the centre ..but was dissapointed by their service and "sovoc" attitude last year.;- (( (
Would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks

Hi, Mila
I'm afraid as a resident I'm a bad advisor with respect to choosing a hotel and any other "traveller's affairs". One thing I know, to rent a flat or room might be more efficient then to stay in hotel. But I'm a complete dilettante at this field.

Thanks, MSL.
I understand that. The thing is that probably some of our guests of the forum do have some sort of experience and will come forward with useful info one day...
Please don't worry that much.

Hi, Mila.
I beg to advise one hotel if it is ok with the price. I'm talking about "Orekhovo" hotel. It is situated next to metro Orekhovo (1 minute on foot).
It costs about 3000 roubles per day and it takes about 25 minutes to get to the citycentre by metro. the hitel is quite nice and comfortable.

Thanks, I appreciate your personal recommendation. That's what really important. As i mentioned previously I am looking for accommodation where people have stayed and liked it rather booking something on line. The price looks good and I'd rather have another look at it!
Thanks again.

2Штурман ёмоё
I wouldn't worry either, just pop in and ask whar you are interesetd in and IF we can help you that certainly would be my personal as well as other participants' SATISFACTION. You are not completely right by saying that this thread is a sort of small private English training world. We can't be private as we are on air and everybody is welcome..But it's nice to know how people respect each other by just saying Hi and Bye for courtesy because firstly, it's typical for English speaking world and secondly, we "meet" up here quite often..

To ALL

As i have already noticed that almost all threads here are formed to particular likes and dislikes of certain social groups of people. Many of them are rather popular and some are one day life. I strongly believe that we are communicating here because we like speaking English and there is no need to say just anything to support the thread. It will "live" as long as people are interested to talk without being verbally abused as it often happens in many other threads.
So politeness, courtesy, respect, wish to learn something - all those are main issues for what we are here today..
See you soon!

Want to commence the discussion about american radiocommunication specific. I'm sorry if Mila find it lame and boring, but.. I've found some contradiction in my mind while listening the recording of Buffalo Approach (heres the link http://archive-server.liveatc. ... The principle thing that amases is non-reading back a callsign and most of inctructions EXTREMELY frequently. Is that a slackness or such a rebellious coolness? I can't beleive this doesn't lead to trouble sometimes!

It’s very sad to listen to things like that. :- (( (
Nevertheless about the substance.
I wouldn’t call it "extremely". Crews mostly confirmed as appropriate. Sometimes they did it quite unreadable, but it’s another deal. No doubt some omitting in confirmation took place, but if it was really necessary ATC made them clarified reports (Cactus 1452 for instance). Stressful and tense atmosphere of an emergency was the cause I guess. I think it’s not the best example to make generalisation.

Yes, agree, it's very frustrating to listen to those voices...
I also realised that from the beginning of the communication (in that recorded part) they all - the crew- sounded rather relaxed, omitting confirmations, asuming that everything was just a routine type of communication..Am i right?

MSL I think it’s not the best example to make generalisation.

How often do you listen their ordinary communcation, when nothing tragedic happend before? I do, and can tell, this style is typical. I called it extremely in comparison with russian, can you imagine the same omitting in Moscow airspace?
Truly spoken, i don't personally like full confirmations, and always try to shorten as much as possible, futhermore, simple "thanks" can be enough sometimes, BUT never as an answer to levelchange instruction or smth like that.

Mila, could you please grammatically correct my posts? As you said we are here about to learn. And you also missed my quest "pleasant to read to (or without second to? Mila?)!"

First I think NPPGA85 and Russian national phraseology rules (which are rather verbose) aren't mandatory for them. Meanwhile international radio communication much more brief. And the second, nobody is perfect.

Hi MSL!
Firstly...secondly...thirdly - are the posssibilities
much more brief= shorter/concise/abrupt???
meanwhile?
I would say -differently, in another way, other than, on the contrary, contrary to, on the other hand, while...
verbose= wordy, tedious

inspect= to look at

Hi!
I hope that everyone is OK.
Here is a bit more fun for you.
PROVERBS AND THEIR MEANINGS

A "proverb" is a short, traditional saying in general use. It
usually expresses some obvious truth or familiar experience.
Here are some proverbs that are well known in English, though
some of them come from other languages. The meanings given are
generally accepted meanings, though other interpretations may be
possible.

1. "Don't cross your bridges before you come to them."
Don't worry about problems before they arrive.

2. "Soon learnt, soon forgotten."
Something that is easy to learn is easy to forget.

3. "Even a worm will turn."
Everybody will revolt if driven too far.

4. "It was the last straw that broke the camel's back."
There is a limit to everything.

5. "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach."
Many women have won a man's love by cooking good meals.

6. "Where there's a will there's a way."
If we are determined to do something, we can do it.

7. "The best advice is found on the pillow."
We may find the answer to a problem after sleeping.
Enjoy it and keep on practicing!!

Hello Mila,
I suppose the Russian for waypoint is " (промежуточный) пункт маршрута" and concerning "бортовой номер или номер борта по реестру" - they are the same.
