If you press it at midnight - well, your neighbors will show up sooner or later, and they will be VERY angry. The problem is - they will not show up immediately in any case, and the bulgar/killer/rapist has a plenty of time to do his job. But your neighbors will probably find your body and call 911.
Anyway - that's not what I'm looking for, and an artwork of Pietro Beretta with 15 hollow point bullets works much better in such cases. Sure, you need to buy a new carpet after that - and, probably, fix some holes in the walls. It's not a perfect world :))

Alarm will scare an intruder. I do not think he will realise what is going on and what is the sourse of loud sound. But leaving, I bet, he will get all attention. Our good neibours are 50m away and we are "watching" after their house and vice verse.:-)
We are not fans of any weapon.

Happy MLK Day! #-P
I saw an empty little bottle from vodka on a parking lot today - Vodka Popov with Kremlin and St. Basil's Cathedral on the background. Russians are here!(c)

It depends on the parking lot. On some lots in Rockville you can find not just empty bottles of Russian vodka, but drunk Russians themself. Ten years ago I saw a drunk Russian paratrooper in uniform, with all decorations, sleeping on the lawn in the New York Central Park. Maybe he was looking for a fountain.
Speaking of MLK day - hmmm, am I really looking like a ni... sorry, Afro-American? Yo yo yo, wassup sista from another mista :))
But having an extra weekend is a good thing anyway. I found a time in my buzy schedule to watch Mission Impossible 5: The Ghost Protocol. That was awesome... Russian supersecret assassin - a blonde girl with a face of a sad cow... Another Russian secret agent looking like a permanently drunk redneck dressed in a leather jacket or smoking... A blast of the Kremlin with preloaded charges... Infiltration into the Kremlin in 30 minutes after getting a mission... If 15 minutes of a good laugh really gives you an extra day of life - I became at least a week younger yesterday :))

Snafu,
We watched MI-5 a couple weeks ago. L-edOL too.
Lately we've seen "Thinker. Tailor. Soldier. Spy." Also involving Russians and then "The girl with the dragon tattoo" where the girl has Russian roots(actualy it was Ukranian). At least in the book and the original(Sweden) trilogy.

The Russians are here.(c)

A joke.

Mujibar was trying to get a job in India. The Personnel Manager said,'Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except one. Unless you pass it, you cannot qualify for this job.'

Mujibar said, 'I am ready.' The manager said, 'Make a sentence using the words
Yellow, Pink, and Green.'

Mujibar said, 'The telephone goes green, green,
And I pink it up, and say,
Yellow, this is Mujibar.'

Mujibar now works at a call centre.
No doubt you have spoken to him.
I know I have. He is in Bangalor. ;-)

Sometimes the planes fly "North tracks" - closer to the Arctic.
And to be more specific actually planes on this route do not fly straight West as we imagine it on a Globe. They fly North.

To be even more specific - most of intercontinental air routes based on so-called Great Circle Arc or Ortodromy - a curve which represents a shortest distance between two points on a sphere. In a perfect world it's the fastest and most efficient route from point A to point B (not too easy from the navigation standpoint though). In a real world you should also count for country boundaries and airspace, jet streams, cyclones, hurricanes and so forth. As a result, some real-world air routes are far away from the ortodromy, but most of them are close enough.
Here is the air route map of United Airlines. Just pick up your departure and arrival ports - and get your route.

A Power Drive Unit is used to convert electrical or hydraulic power into mechanical motion (often rotary) and drive a mechanical actuation system.

По контексту - электромотор или гидромотор, в зависимости от типа закрылков.
